Asian Burger Cups Recipe

Asian Burger Cups

Ingredients:

  • 4 Philly Gourmet® Patties
  • 24 square wonton wrappers
  • 1/2 cup finely diced red, orange or yellow pepper
  • 1/3 cup finely sliced scallions (white and green parts)
  • 3 Tbsp. fresh lime juice (1 med-lg lime)
  • 2 Tbsp. fish sauce (can be found in the Asian section of your supermarket)
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. fresh minced garlic
  • 2 tsp. chile garlic sauce (can be found in the Asian section of your supermarket)

Let’s do it…

Preheat oven to 400° F. Using a mini muffin tin, gently press one wonton sheet into each hole so as not to rip the dough. Once it is ripped, you really cannot save it. When the wrapper completely covers the sides and bottom, lay back the edges so that it forms a cup. Bake until lightly browned, about 6 to 8 minutes. Remove and let cool.

While the wontons are cooling, cook the patties as directed on package. We recommend grilling or broiling so that the grease completely drains off of the patty. Once cooked, cut the patties into small pieces and place them in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Add the peppers and scallions.

To make the sauce, combine the lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, garlic and chile garlic sauce. Stir until the sugar is dissolved, then pour into the bowl with the patty mixture, stirring until combined. Fill the wontons with the mixture, and arrange on a plate.

Note: The baked wontons work well for other combinations. Another great filling option is, try mixing patties with blue cheese crumbles and sliced red onion, and drizzling with garlic aioli sauce (whisk 4 medium minced garlic cloves, 2 egg yolks, 1 1/2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice and 1 cup extra virgin olive oil). Or you could use meatballs cut in quarters with mozzarella cheese, a bit of orzo pasta and diced tomatoes with garlic.
